Mary Washington Senior Taylor Diffley Selected as CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington senior Taylor Diffley was selected as the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Sept. 27, 2016.

Mary Washington senior Taylor Diffley was selected as the CAC Player of the Week after teaming with junior Caroline Mosberg to advance to the finals of the ITA Southeast Regional this weekend, winning four matches before falling in the final in three sets to Johns Hopkins, 6-7, 6-4, 10-5. In singles, Diffley advanced to the third round before falling to eventual champion Brooke Donnelly of Washington & Lee in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6. She also picked up a win over George Mason last week in singles, and she and Mosberg stand at 6-2 in doubles play thus far.​

Seven CAC squads have kicked off their fall 2016 seasons, including six that competed at the ITA Southeast Regional Championship hosted by Mary Washington last weekend ...  Christopher Newport freshman Johanna Ranta-aho reached the semifinals of the Championship Singles Draw at the ITA Regional Championship, posting a 4-1 record. She is the first Captain to advance beyond the second round at the ITA Southeast Regional ... Frostburg State opens its fall season this week with four matches ... Penn State Harrisburg's Sydney Nye and Alicia Hitz represented the Lions at ITA's. The Lions are 0-2 this fall with losses to Immaculata and Albright ... St. Mary's Claire Bodine is 3-2 on the young season following a 2-1 mark at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships. Salisbury junior Sage Cole won a match in the Blue 3 singles draw at ITA's ... York is 1-0 this fall with a 9-0 victory over Stevenson on Sept. 17.
