Marymount junior Denise Gallant earned CAC Athlete of the Week accolades after placing sixth in a field of 68 runners at the Shannon Henretty Invitational. Gallant crossed the 6k course in 25:20.50, leading the Saints to a fourth-place team finish. It was her second top-10 finish in as many races this season and third in her last seven.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Seven CAC teams were in action last week, with Christopher Newport, Salisbury, and York idle ... Frostburg State sophomore Lauren Halvorson paced the Bobcats efforts on Westmoreland CCC's 5k course. Halverson clocked in with a time of 23:23 to secure a seventh-place finish overall, and she finished second among Division III competition at the race ... Freshman Ashley Applegate, who placed 12th overall at 25:50, led Mary Washington to a third place finish at the Stevenson Invitational ... Southern Virginia freshman Morgan Bingham finished third overall among non-Division I competition at the James Madison Invitational with a 5K time of 20:57, nearly a minute ahead of the fourth-place finisher ... In a field of Division I competitors, Wesley sophonore Natalie Quigley placed seventh in the women's 5k at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational with a time of 21:35.3.
