Salisbury Senior Kyle Goodwin and Mary Washington Junior Nick McIntyre Honored as CAC Baseball Players of the Week
YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury senior Kyle Goodwin and Mary Washington junior Nick McIntyre were honored as the CAC Baseball Players of the Week for March 7, 2016.

Salisbury senior Kyle Goodwin was honored as the the CAC Player of the Week after hitting .667 (10-for-15) with eight RBIs, eight runs scored and three home runs in a 2-1 week for the Sea Gulls. In a win over Johns Hopkins, Goodwin tallied half of the team's hits and accounted for over half of its runs. He also hit two doubles and one triple, slugged 1.533 and notched 23 total bases on the week.

Mary Washington junior righthander Nick McIntyre was named the CAC Pitcher of the Week after tossing a complete-game two-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over Plattsburgh State on Thursday. McIntyre struck out 10 batters with just one walk in the victory. He has a 3.00 ERA this season with a team-high three wins for the 18th-ranked Eagles.

Four CAC teams are ranked in the D3baseball.com National Poll, with Frostburg State at No. 6, Salisbury at No. 7, Mary Washington at No. 18 and Christopher Newport at No. 24 ... York defeated Penn State Harrisburg 4-1 in the first CAC contest of the year on Saturday ... CNU's Adam Emerson retired all five batters he faced this week, striking out four of them. First, he earned a 3-out save against Bridgewater on Thursday, improving to 3-for-3 in save opportunities this season with a pair of strikeouts. Then, in a pivotal moment against Neumann, he was called on with two on and 1 out in the top of the 9th. With a runner 90 feet from home, he struck out back-to-back hitters to escape the jam. The CNU offense then picked up two runs in the bottom half to walk off winners and hand Emerson his first victory of the year ... Frostburg State sophomore Greg Schneider tossed his second 14 strikeout game of the season on Saturday as the Bobcats defeated Keystone 5-1. Schneider scattered just four hits and opened the game in stellar fashion as he struckout the side in the first frame, along with two batters in the second, third and fourth innings ... Mary Washington senior LF Mitch Moynihan hit safely in each of the Eagles wins last week, with 14 hits in 30 at bats for a .468 average. He scored 11 runs and drove in eight as UMW went 6-1. He had three hits against NC Wesleyan including a double with four RBI, and added three hits against Johnson & Wales. He had two knocks against Catholic, Lehman, and Penn College ... St. Mary's Holden Marshall paced the Seahawks by contributing two hits, cracking his first career triple and recording two RBIs last week against No. 16 Randolph-Macon ... Southern Virginia's Craig Reeves is second on team with a .308 avg., and hit back-to-back home runs in a 9-8 win over Greensboro last week ... York's Joel Kenney tossed eight innings in leading the Spartans to a 4-1 win over Penn State Harrisburg, striking out a career-high nine batters with just one walk and eight hits. Sean Mohollen hit the game-winning home run for the Spartans vs. Penn State Harrisburg and for the week totaled four RBIs, three walks, three runs scored and a stolen base.
