YORK, Pa. -- Penn State Harrisburg junior Josh Brubaker and Christopher Newport senior Mike Thomas earned CAC Baseball weekly awards for April 3, 2017.

Penn State Harrisburg junior Josh Brubaker collected CAC Player of the Week honors after hitting four home runs with nine RBIs and 10 runs scored in a 4-1 week for the Lions. Brubaker went 10-for-20 (.500) at the plate with three doubles and four round-trippers, helping the Lions sweep CAC foes Southern Virginia and St. Mary's. He registered at least one hit and two RBIs in four of the five games, posting a slugging % of 1.250.

Christopher Newport senior southpaw Mike Thomas earned CAC Pitcher of the Week honors after twirling a seven-inning shutout performance against York in CAC action on Saturday. Thomas wriggled out of early trouble unscathed in the first and second innings, and then cruised through the seventh frame. He retired 14 straight batters between the end of the second and the beginning of the seventh, allowing just four hits and a walk with five strikeouts. He combined with two relievers for the shutout, CNU's fourth of the year.

Salisbury and Christopher Newport are receiving votes in both the D3baseball.com poll and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) / Collegiate Baseball polls ... CNU now boasts the nation's longest active winning streak, with 13 straight wins. It is the third longest win streak in program history (26 in 2011, 14 in 2002). Junior Craig Johnson hit a team-best .538 (7-for-13) in three wins last week, including a perfect 4-for-4 outing against York. Pitcher Mike Thomas is now 6-1 on the year with a team-best 1.71 ERA ... Mary Washington sophomore Stephen Johnston hit .538 for the week, with a home run, two doubles, and nine RBIs for the Eagles. He went 5-for-8 in UMW's Saturday doubleheader sweep of Wesley, and also picked up a win in relief on Saturday against Wesley with three strikeouts in 1.1 innings ... Marymount senior Brandon Orbe paced the Saints offense this past week, hitting .300 for two runs, a home run, a walk and four RBIs in his 10 at-bats ... Salisbury senior Tom LaBriola went 4-for-8 with two doubles, a triple, and five RBIs in the Sea Gulls' Sunday CAC sweep of Frostburg State. Senior Pete Grasso remained perfect on the mound this spring, moving to 4-0 with a complete-game outing in game one vs. Frostburg State. Grasso allowed just five hits and one run while totaling six strikeouts, and now boasts at team-best 1.45 ERA this season ... Penn State Harrisburg junior Mark Artley recorded two CAC wins in four days last week, allowing just seven hits and three runs while striking out 13 in victories over Marymount and St. Mary's ... Southern Virginia's Ryan Morin went 10-for-15 at the plate last week in three games, recording a team-high seven RBIs and four doubles ... Wesley's Trey Mears recorded his 200th career hit in the doubleheader against Mary Washington. Mears also was a home run away from hitting for the cycle against Salisbury. Mears extended his on-base streak to 28 games dating back to last year, and has a six-game hitting streak ... York sophomore reliever Will Grega picked up a pair of victories in relief last week against St. Mary's and Marymount. Grega tossed 7.1 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits with seven strikeouts and six walks. For the season, Grega is 3-0 with one save in six appearances, owns a 2.12 ERA in 17 innings of work with 14 strikeouts.
