Christopher Newport junior Marcus Carter was honored as the CAC Player of the Week after leading the Captains to a 3-0 week and earning MVP honors at the Captains Shootout. Carter averaged 15.7 points on 60.7% shooting while recording 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. He also shot well from beyond the arc, adding 2.0 three-pointers per contest at a 54.5% clip.

In the D3hoops.com week 4 rankings, Salisbury is ranked No. 5 and Christopher Newport is No. 9 ... CAC action picks back up on Wednesday ... Salisbury is the lone unbeaten in conference play at 4-0 ... Frostburg State sophomore Edwin Cole grabbed all-tournament honors at the 2016 Cregger Tournament at Roanoke after posting a pair of double-doubles ... Junior forward Eric Shaw scored a career high 33 points in Mary Washington's 100-85 loss at Va. Wesleyan on Dec. 30. Shaw connected on 11-of-23 field goals, including 2-of-5 from three-point range, and made 9-of-10 free throws. He also shared the team lead with eight rebounds in the contest, and added a pair of steals ... Brandon Rogers helped Marymount to a 2-1 end of 2016, capping off the final home game of the year with a 52-46 victory over McDaniel before splitting in their holiday tournament in Nashville against Westminster and John Carroll. Rogers led the Saints with 11 points per game in the stretch, shooting 55% from the floor and 60% (9-of-15) from three-point range ... Southern Virginia's Rashay Douglas posted his eighth double-digit scoring performance of the season with 15 points in a loss to Emory & Henry. Douglas leads the Knights with 13.5 ppg this season ... Salisbury dropped its first two games of the season at the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas. Chad Barcikowski averaged 17.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg in losses to Ramapo and Hardin-Simmons ...
