Mary Washington junior Brandon Griffin was selected as the CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this fall after advancing to the singles semifinals of the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament. Griffin, who entered the tournament unseeded, opened with a trio of straight-set victories to advance to the quarterfinals, where he outlasted ninth-seeded David Perez of Johns Hopkins in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. He then met another Hopkins opponent in the semifinals, top-seeded and defending regional champion Michael Buxbaum. Griffin tested Buxbaum to the limt, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3 in a marathon three-hour match.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All CAC teams have now wrapped up their fall seasons ... Several CAC teams compted at the ITA Southeast Regional Championship hosted by Mary Washington from Oct. 3-5 ... Christopher Newport's Chiraag Shetty and Steven Boslet reached the quarterfinals of the championship doubles draw at ITA's... UMW's Eric Hurwitz and Nolan Perugini also reached the doubles quarterfinals ... UMW's David Lunding-Johansson, seeded ninth, advanced to the singles quarterfinals before falling to JHU's Buxbaum 6-2, 6-2, while fifth-seeded Stratton Gilmore also advanced to the quarters and was knocked out by eventual champion Abhishek Allah from Carnegie Mellon, 7-6 (1), 7-5 ... Frostburg State fell to Stevenson 9-0 in its only action of the week ...  Penn State Harrisburg went 1-2 over the past two weeks with an 8-1 win over Alvernia and losses to Goucher (7-0) and Susquehanna (5-4).
