Wesley Junior Nina Marcano and Frostburg State Junior Hannah Tavik Named CAC Softball Players of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Wesley junior Nina Marcano and Frostburg State junior Hannah Tavik were selected as the CAC Softball Players of the Week for March 21, 2016.

Wesley junior Nina Marcano was tabbed as the CAC Player of the Week after blasting a pair of three-run home runs in a doubleheader sweep of Keystone, including a walk-off blast in game two. Tied at 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning of game two, Marcano delivered a walk-off three-run bomb to give the Wolverines the twinbill sweep. She finished the week with four hits, seven RBIs, three runs scored and a 2.333 slugging percentage.

Frostburg State junior Hannah Tavik was named the CAC Pitcher of the Week after tossing four wins in the circle last week including a no-hitter on the Bobcats' spring break trip to Clermont, Fla. Tavik totaled 27 strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs in 23.2 innings of work, compiling a 0.59 ERA. She collected shutout wins over Bates and Westfield State and surrendered just 11 hits throughout the week.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

In the NFCA March 16 rankings, Christopher Newport is No. 3 and Salisbury is No. 8 ... Both of CNU's weekend doubleheaders were postponed due to wet weather conditions ... Penn State Harrisburg went 2-0 last week with a sweep of Elizabethtown. Amanda Hartman earned the game one win on the mound, allowing no earned runs in a complete-game 3-2 win. She also contributed at the plate with a 3-for-7 performance with two runs scored and an RBI throughout the twinbill ... Sophomore Malia Rogers hit .455 for Mary Washington last week in four games, with five hits in 11 at bats ... Salisbury played just one doubleheader this week due to spring break and weather. Annah Brittingham made the most of her lone chance in the circle, tossing a no-hitter against Houghton, the first of her career and the 49th in program history. She allowed just one walk and struck out a career-high 11 batters in the five-inning no-no. Kim Dorsey reached base safely all five times at the plate last week, going 4-for-4 and walking once. She came up with a double and her sixth career triple, scoring three times and driving in three runs ... Southern Virginia's Tara Hilton hit the Knights' first home run of the year and led the team with 2 RBIs last week.
