YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury junior Dana King and Mary Washington junior Kirsten Littlefield were tabbed as the CAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for April 10, 2017.  

Offensive Player of the Week

Salisbury junior Dana King earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades after totaling 11 points in CAC wins over Christopher Newport and Frostburg State. Against CNU, King finished with two goals and three assists, before tallying two goals and four assists in a victory over Frostburg State. King also managed four draw controls and two ground balls in the pair of victories. She shot 50% for the week. 

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Mary Washington junior Kirsten Littlefield was selected as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the 16th-ranked Eagles to a key CAC road win at St. Mary's and an upset over 11th-ranked Catholic with a pair of fine defensive performances. In the win at St. Mary's, she had three ground balls, four draw controls, and a pair of caused turnovers, as the Eagles held the Seahawks to six goals in a 10-6 victory. She had six ground balls, one draw, and a caused turnover as UMW limited Catholic to four scores in a 12-4 win. For the week, she totaled nine ground balls, five draw controls, and three caused turnovers.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

With just one week remaining in the CAC regular season, Salisbury (7-0 CAC) and York (6-0 CAC) are unblemished in conference play. The two sides will meet on Wednesday in York, Pa. with the top seed and homefield advantage in the CAC Tournament at stake. The six-team CAC Tournament field is set, with Mary Washington (4-2 CAC), Christopher Newport (4-2 CAC), St. Mary's (3-3 CAC) and Frostburg State (3-3) having secured playoff spots ... Three CAC teams are ranked in the IWLCA National Rankings, with York at No. 7, Salisbury at No. 11, and Mary Washington at No. 14 ... Christopher Newport sophomore Sarah Culver led the Captains with nine points during the week, including eight goals. Her finest effort came against No. 13 Salisbury on Wednesday when she scored six times against the Sea Gulls, marking the most goals surrendered by SU to an individual player since 2012. She returned with three more points, including a pair of goals, during a 19-2 win over Wesley on Saturday ... Frostburg State senior Molly Hart finished two games last week with four goals and five assists, including a two-goal and five-assist effort against Southern Virginia ... Marymount sophomore goalkeeper Holly Reik had a career day against St. Mary's on Saturday, turning away a career-high 15 shots for a 57.7-save percentage. For the year, she has made 118 saves (third best in CAC) on a 48.4-save percentage (third best in CAC) ... Abbey Harrison led St. Mary's in scoring as the Seahawks posted a 1-1 week. Harrison notched team-highs of two goals and two draw controls against No. 16 Mary Washington before tallying career-bests of three goals and four points in the win over Marymount for her fifth career hat trick. Mackenzie Rayburn notched seven ground balls, five draw controls, and two caused turnovers to lead the St. Mary's defense ... Salisbury senior Kayla Miller scored her first ever career goal against Frostburg State on Saturday. She scooped up three groundballs and caused a pair of turnovers last week, as the Salisbury defense held its opponents to 8.5 goals per game ... Southern Virginia senior Zoe Bradshaw scored the only goal for the Knights against York, and found the back of the net four times against Frostburg State ... Wesley junior goalkeeper Shelby Schirmer made 19 saves in two games for the Wolverines. Schirmer has made 121 saves in goal so far this season, placing second in the CAC. Brianna Bacon notched a goal and an assist for the Wolverines on the week ... York has now won nine straight games after a 3-0 week last week that included a victory over No. 11 Catholic. Senior Katelyn Cattrano finished the week with a team-leading 13 points on four goals and nine assists. For the season, she has notched 30 points on six goals and a team-best 24 assists, and ranks fourth in the league in assists. Nicole Clauter tallied eight draw controls, three ground balls and caused one turnover to lead the Spartans' defense. For the year, Clauter leads the team in draw controls (47) and also has 16 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers in 13 games. Clauter is third in the league in draw controls.
