YORK, Pa. -- The Salisbury duo of sophomore Jay Perry and senior Jeff Oster along with Wesley junior Chris Seibert nabbed CAC Baseball weekly awards for April 10, 2017.

Salisbury sophomore Jay Perry was honored as the CAC Co-Player of the Week after hitting .462 (6-for-13) with two home runs and 10 RBIs in a 3-0 week for the Sea Gulls. Perry tallied at least two RBIs in each contest, including a pair of four-RBI games in a twinbill sweep over Penn State Harrisburg. Perry registered an on-base percentage of .533 and a slugging percentage of .923 while scoring four times for the first-place Sea Gulls.

Wesley junior Chris Seibert received CAC Co-Player of the Week honors after belting three home runs with seven RBIs in a 3-0 week for the Wolverines. Seibert hit .385 (5-for-13) at the plate with a slugging percentage of 1.077, knocking in seven RBIs and scoring five times. Seibert came up big in game two of a doubleheader sweep over previous-conference-unbeaten Christopher Newport, knocking a pair of two-run homers in the nightcap. Seibert leads the CAC with 45 RBIs and is second in batting average (.421) and slugging percentage (.701).

Salisbury senior Jeff Oster secured CAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the fourth time this year after tossing a complete-game shutout in game one of a doubleheader against Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday. Oster allowed just four hits while striking out nine of the 29 batters he faced. He did not walk a batter en route to his second complete-game outing of the season. With the performance he now boasts a 2.91 ERA for the season, which ranks fifth in the CAC.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

With one week remaining in the CAC regular season, Salisbury (14-1 CAC) has now taken a one-game lead over Christopher Newport (13-2 CAC) atop the conference. The Sea Gulls and Captains will meet on Wednesday in Salisbury in a key matchup that may determine homefield advantage in the CAC Tournament ... York currently sits in third at 9-6 in conference play, followed by Wesley (7-8 CAC), Marymount (7-8 CAC), and Penn State Harrisburg (7-8 CAC) in a three-way tie for fourth. Frostburg State (6-7 CAC) and Mary Washington (6-9 CAC) also remain in the playoff hunt ... In the D3baseball.com national rankings, Salisbury is ranked No. 22 and Christopher Newport is No. 23 ... In the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) / Collegiate Baseball poll, Salisbury is ranked No. 22 and CNU is No. 30 ... CNU senior A.J. Nicely ran his hitting streak to 11 games, and closed his multi-hit streak at career-high tying nine games. Nicely hit two home runs last week for the Captains. Freshman pitcher Thomas Packert threw 7.0 shutout innings at Southern Virginia, leading the way in the Captains' fifth shutout of the season. Packert allowed only two hits and two walks as he cruised through the win, improving to 5-0 with a 1.91 ERA ... Frostburg State junior Matt Bougourd hit .750 and finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a walk in one game last week ... Senior Thomas Weaver batted .538 for the week for Mary Washington, with seven hits in 13 at bats, including one home run, on Sunday against York ... Marymount sophomore Luke Tyree hit .409 with two home runs, four RBIs and six runs scored last week for the Saints. Senior pitcher Spenser Davis earned a win against Southern Virginia, tossing 6.0 innings and giving up just three hits and one run while striking out four in a 21-3 win ... St. Mary's senior lefty Ben Goldsmith pitched a complete-game shutout against Marymount, giving the Seahawks their second conference win of the year. Goldsmith struck out three while surrendering seven hits with no walks to improve his record to 1-3 on the year ... Freshman Cole Critchfield led Southern Virginia in batting average (.333) and RBIs (4) last week. On the season, Critchfield owns a team-best .383 batting average ... Wesley junior pitcher Alex Marrs earned his sixth win of the season in 7.2 innings against Penn State Harrisburg, and also closed out the ninth inning of game two against CNU, helping seal the win for the Wolverines. Marrs' six wins is tied for the CAC lead ... York junior Seth Brosius hit .412 with five runs scored, eight RBIs, and a pair of home runs last week. For the season, he is hitting .304 with 26 RBI, 20 runs scored, eight doubles and three home runs. Randy Frankenfield earned a win in game two of a doubleheader against Mary Washington, tossing 6.1 innings and allowing one run on six hits with five strikeouts in a 3-1 victory.
