St. Mary's Senior Olivia Edwards and Christopher Newport Sophomore Savanah Cummings Named CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week
YORK, Pa. -- St. Mary's senior Olivia Edwards and Christopher Newport sophomore Savanah Cummings were named the CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week for Oct. 13, 2014.

St. Mary's senior Olivia Edwards was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Seahawks to a 2-0 week with three goals. Edwards scored both goals in a 2-1 win over York to keep the Seahawks undefeated in CAC action. She followed that up with her team-leading 13th goal of the season in a non-conference win over Virginia Wesleyan. Edwards now ranks second on the Seahawks all-time single-season goals list and third on the single-season points list.

Christopher Newport sophomore Savanah Cummings secured CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Captains to a pair of shutouts with 140 minutes of spotless work between the pipes. On Wednesday, Cummings recorded eight saves while registering her first career solo shutout during a 2-0 victory over Bridgewater. Three days later, she notched five saves en route to her second career shutout, a 1-0 CAC triumph over Wesley.

Salisbury holds the #1 spot in last week's NFHCA National Rankings, while Mary Washington is also in the rankings at #18 ... Junior Jenna Steele led #18 Mary Washington to an 8-1 win at Randolph-Macon in its only action of the week, scoring four goals for the second time in as many weeks. She has now equaled her total from last season (15), in which she gained all-CAC and all-region honors ... Salisbury sophomore Abby Shobe scored half of Salisbury's goals last week, finding the back of the net three times.
