St. Mary's Junior Savannah Bergen Honored as CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
YORK, Pa. -- St. Mary's junior Savannah Bergen earned CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week accolades for March 7, 2017.

St. Mary's junior Savannah Bergen was honored as the CAC Player of the Week after posting a 4-0 week in a 1-1 week for St. Mary's. Bergen teamed up with Claire Bodine for a pair of No. 3 doubles victories against Harford Community College, 9-7, and No. 40 Washington College, 8-3. Against HCC, Bergen/Bodine were down 3-6 before rallying back for the 9-7 win. Bergen then notched wins at No. 6 singles, posting a straight set win vs. Harford's Rachel Hall and winning 8-1 over Washington's Mariah Thomas.

Four CAC teams were in action last week ... Frostburg State, Penn State Harrisburg, and York will begin the spring campaign in mid-March ... No. 34 Christopher Newport started its spring break trip to California with a 1-1 record, falling to No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 9-0 before bouncing back with a 9-0 win over Chapman ... No. 15 Mary Washington participated in the ITA Indoor National Championships this weekend, falling to No. 1 Emory, No. 7 Carnegie Mellon, and No. 12 Sewanee. Senior Taylor Diffley picked up a win at two singles and one doubles against the Tigers ... Southern Virginia defeated Virginia Union 7-0 in its lone match of the week. The Knights dropped just four total games throughout the entire match.
