York Senior Jess Miller Claims CAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week Honors

YORK, Pa. -- York senior Jess Miller was selected as the CAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Oct. 21, 2014.

York senior Jess Miller was named the CAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after winning CNU Invitational on Saturday. Miller led the Spartans to the non-Division I championship as she crossed the line in a time of 22:55.2, leading a trio of Spartans runners who finished 1-2-3. Miller's time would have put her fourth in the Division I field, just 26 seconds back of the top D1 finisher. It was the second individual title for Miller this year as she also won the Rich Achtzehn Classic on Sept. 13.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Last weekend's meets served as the final tune-up to the 2014 CAC Cross Country Championship. The CAC Championship is set for Saturday, Nov. 1 at Four Winds Golf Course in Rappahannock Academy, Va. ... Three CAC squads are regionally ranked by the USTFCCCA in the Week 5 rankings. Christopher Newport is 4th and Mary Washington 8th in the South/Southeast, while York is 9th in the Mideast ...  Sophomore Logan Harrington led Christopher Newport to a second-place finish at the CNU Invitational after placing fourth overall with a time of 23:51.2. ... Frostburg State captured its second straight team title at the Hood College Open Invitational, led by Gabbi Maher's ninth-place finish ... Joining Miller in the top three for York at the CNU Invitational were Jenna Roberts (23:18.9) in second and Caroline Delaney (23:21.8) in third.
