YORK, Pa. -- Wesley senior Trey Mears and Christopher Newport senior Mike Thomas earned CAC Baseball weekly accolades for April 17, 2017.

Wesley senior Trey Mears collected CAC Player of the Week honors after belting four home runs with 11 RBIs while hitting .556 last week, helping the Wolverines clinch the No. 4 seed in the CAC Tournament. Mears scored eight times and registered four stolen bases. He hit a home run in three of four games, posting a slugging percentage of 1.278 and getting on base at a .609 clip. Mears leads the CAC in batting average (.517), on-base percentage (.580), slugging percentage (.750), hits (62), runs (50) and stolen bases (38).

Christopher Newport senior Mike Thomas was honored as the CAC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this year after pitching seven innings of a combined shutout against Penn State Harrisburg to pick up his seventh win of the season. Thomas struck out five and allowed just three hits in his seven innings of work, helping CNU tie its single-season record for shutouts with six. He also lowered his season ERA to 1.62 with his stellar performance.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Salisbury secured the CAC regular season title and the right to host the CAC Baseball Tournament for the first time since 2013 with a doubleheader sweep over York on Saturday's final day of the regular season. With the twinbill sweep, the Sea Gulls will be the No. 1 seed in the CAC Tournament and host the championship weekend from Thursday through Saturday at the SU Baseball Field ... Christopher Newport (No. 2 seed) and York (No. 3 seed) had already locked up playoff spots entering last Saturday and will also host first-round contests on Tuesday along with the top-seeded Sea Gulls ... Tuesday's first round contests will feature No. 6 Mary Washington at No. 1 Salisbury, No. 5 Marymount at No. 2 Christopher Newport, and No. 4 Wesley at No. 3 York, all with 3:30 p.m. start times ... Christopher Newport's Austin Henry hit .667 (6-for-9) and drove in seven runs during a 2-1 week for the Captains ... Brad Garrant wrapped up a six-game week for Frostburg State by hitting .500 (12-of-24) with six runs, four doubles, two home runs and 13 RBI ... Mary Washington's Hank Biggs turned in a big outing on Saturday as UMW topped Frostburg State, 3-2, on Saturday, allowing two runs in 8.2 innings on seven hits, with seven strikeouts. He also pitched .1 innings of relief on Thursday. For the week, he posted a 2.00 ERA. David Slupek and Cody Beacorn provided walkoff hits for the Eagles against Frostburg State on Saturday, earning the Eagles the No. 6 seed in the CAC Tournament ... Marymount's Conner Hall had a strong day at the plate in a crucial road victory over Frostburg State on Wednesday, bolstering a program-record eight RBIs on a four-hit game to guide the Saints to a 20-8 win. His four hits included a 2-RBI double, a single, his first collegiate Grand Slam, and a two-run home run in the ninth to cap off the day with his first-career multi-home run game. A dual threat, Hall made a relief appearance on the mound in the eighth inning in game one against Wesley, tossing 2.2 innings for just one hit and no runs to grab the win on the hill in a 5-4 walk-off victory for the Saints in the 10th inning. He also currently leads the CAC in saves this year with five ... Salisbury's Jay Perry went 6-for-16 at the plate last week including a 5-for-7 weekend against York that wrapped up the top seed in the CAC Tournament for the Sea Gulls. Perry finished the series against York with four RBIs, four runs scored, a double, and a two home runs. Micah Wells picked up a win vs. York, allowing just four hits and two runs while striking out eight. Wells also started for Salisbury against Johns Hopkins, going five and two thirds innings allowing three hits and three runs while striking out six. For the week Wells recorded 14 strikeouts over 11.2 innings pitched allowing just seven hits and five runs while posting an ERA of 3.86 ... Southern Virginia's Jordan Keefer cranked three homers last week and recorded a team-high eight RBIs ... Wesley's Alex Marrs picked up his seventh win of the season against St. Mary's, tying him for the most wins in the conference ... York's Logan Countryman hit .609 with seven runs scored, three RBIs, two doubles, two home runs, two walks and a stolen base last week. For the season, Countryman is hitting .404 with 20 runs scored, seven doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI in 89 at-bats.
