YORK, Pa. --  Salisbury senior Thomas Burke and Christopher Newport junior Dominique Torres received CAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for April 14, 2015.

Salisbury senior Thomas Burke was named the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after securing two first-place finishes at the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday. Burke finished first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.22. The mark was his best of the season ands ranks first in the conference and in the top 30 nationally. He also raced to first place in the 1,500 with a time of 4:01.21.

Christopher Newport junior Dominique Torres earned CAC Field Athlete of the Week after registering the second-best triple jump mark in the country at the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational. Torres placed first among Division III athletes and third overall in the triple jump with a distance of 47'-10.5''. The mark currently ranks first in the conference and second in the nation. He also helped the 4x100-relay finish first among Division III competitors with a time of 42.34.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All seven CAC men's track & field teams competed last week ... Salisbury and Wesley finished first and second, respectively, at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational, while York took ninth ... Christopher Newport's Ryan Scott led all Division III competitors in the 200 meters at 21.68, which ranks sixth in the nation. He also moved to 15th in the NCAA in the 110-hurdles after finishing in 14.77 ... Frostburg State's Sterlyn Elder powered the sprinting events at the Messiah Invitational with a victory in the 100-meter dash in a season-best and ECAC time of 10.89 ... Salisbury's Dylan Burkett registered three top-three finishes at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational, taking first in the shot put and hammer throw, and third in the discus ... Wesley's De'Vaughn Trader won the long jump at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational with a jump of 22-11.75, which is tops in the CAC and ninth nationally ... York's Wil Murray broke a 30-year-old school record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:39.56 at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic. The previous school record mark of 9:42.10 was set back in 1985. Murray's time currently ranks second in the CAC and inside the top 40 in the nation.
