YORK, Pa. -- Wesley senior Ron Morello, Frostburg State sophomore Greg Schneider and Salisbury senior Connor Shockley were honored as the CAC Baseball Players of the Week for April 4, 2016.

Wesley senior Ron Morello earned CAC Player of the Week honors after hitting .818 (9-for-11) in a 3-0 week of CAC action for the Wolverines. The left fielder began the week with a 2-for-2 performance with two walks, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in a 10-9 triumph over Salisbury. In Saturday's doubleheader sweep against Southern Virginia, he went 7-for-9 with a double, a triple, four RBIs, two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. He slugged 1.091 on the week and helped extend Wesley's winning streak to four games.

Frostburg State sophomore Greg Schneider was tabbed as the CAC Co-Pitcher of the Week after tossing a complete-game shutout against 11th-ranked Christopher Newport last Saturday. Schneider limited the Captains to nine hits and struck out 12 while walking just three through his nine innings of work. He has struckout 10 or more batters in five of six starts this season.

Salisbury senior Connor Shockley was selected as the CAC Co-Pitcher of the Week after throwing a complete-game shutout at Washington College last Tuesday. Shockley scattered four hits in the outing, all singles, and struck out seven batters while walking four.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Two weeks remain in the CAC regular season ... Marymount is in first place at 9-3 in conference play, followed by Salisbury (7-3), Frostburg State (8-4), Christopher Newport (7-5) and Wesley (7-5), each with winning records ... Three CAC teams are ranked in the D3baseball.com National Poll - Christopher Newport is No. 11, Salisbury is No. 12, and Frostburg State is No. 22, while Mary Washington is receiving votes ... In the Collegiate Baseball/ABCA rankings, Christopher Newport is No. 11 and Salisbury is No. 12 ... CNU's Jordan Mason hit .563 as the lead-off man for the Captains last week, including a 4-for-5 performance against Mary Washington that included three RBIs ... Frostburg State went 4-0 last week, led by a .375 week from senior K.J. Hockaday. Hockaday went 6-for-16, with six runs, two doubles, two triples, a home run and five RBIs ... Marymount's Lorenzo Calderon helped the Saints to a 2-1 week, hitting .538 with three runs scored, three stolen bases and two RBIs. With his three steals, his season total moves to 20, moving him into the top three in the country and tied for first in the league ... Mary Washington junior Brian Burns remained hot at the plate coming back from injury, going 6-for-9 on the week with a home run and six RBIs in two Eagle wins. He went 5-for-6 with a school-record tying three doubles in a 12-8 win at No. 11 CNU. He is batting .389 on the season ... St. Mary's Zach Rowe contributed four hits, four runs, and one RBI to secure two CAC victories against York and Penn State Harrisburg ... Salisbury went 2-1 last week with non-conference wins over Washington College and Stevenson. Jake Dmiterchik went 2-for-5 at the plate in both of the wins, while posting a .417 average for the week with five RBIs ... Southern Virginia's Ryan Saunders hit two triples against Wesley. He ranks second on the team in batting average and third in RBIs ... Wesley's Eric Willey made two appearances on the mound, earning a save in the Wolverines' 10-9 win over Salisbury with a scoreless, hitless ninth inning, and also getting a win over Southern Virginia ... York's Steve Miller hit .529 with four runs scored, six RBIs, two home runs and a pair of doubles last week.
