Frostburg State Senior Erik Geiser and Salisbury Junior Colin Reymann Earn CAC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honors

YORK, Pa. -- Frostburg State senior Erik Geiser and Salisbury junior Colin Reymann were honored as the CAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for April 18, 2016.   

Offensive Player of the Week

Frostburg State senior Erik Geiser was tabbed as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after winning 29-of-36 faceoffs and scooping up 24 ground balls as the Bobcats finished the regular season with a 2-0 week. Geiser opened the week against Mary Washington with 14-of-19 faceoff wins and 12 ground balls, before again recording 12 ground balls and winning 15-of-17 faceoffs against St. Mary's. The Bobcats secured the No. 4 seed in the CAC Tournament with the victories. 

Defensive Player of the Week

Salisbury junior Colin Reymann was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after helping the top-ranked Sea Gulls to a 2-0 week with a 67.5 save percentage and 6.50 goals against average in wins over nationally-ranked York and Cabrini.  Against No. 7 York, he set a career high with 15 saves and surrendered just five goals. Against No. 15 Cabrini, he once again went for double-digit saves, stopping 12 shots and scooping up four groundballs. His season goals against average of 4.69 and save percentage of .654 percent both lead the CAC.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Salisbury secured its fifth straight CAC regular season title with a 17-5 victory over York in a clash of previously-unbeaten CAC squads last Wednesday  ... Salisbury earned the No. 1 seed in the CAC Tournament with the win over York, while the Spartans earned the No. 2 seed with a victory over Christopher Newport on Saturday ... CAC first round matchups are set for Tuesday, with No. 4 Frostburg State hosting No. 5 Mary Washington at 4 p.m. and No. 3 Christopher Newport hosting No. 6 Southern Virginia at 7 p.m. ... Salisbury is ranked No. 1 in both the USILA and Nike/Lacrosse Magazine rankings, while York is ranked No. 7 by the USILA and No. 14 by Nike/Lacrosse Magazine ... CNU and Frostburg State are receiving votes in both polls ... Salisbury (17-0) is one of two remaining unbeaten teams in the country along with No. 2 RIT (12-0) ... Junior Mike Marson turned in a stellar week for Mary Washington, scoring one goal and adding three assists in a loss to Frostburg State before tallying two goals in a win over Marymount in the regular season finale. Jack Carver added five points for the week ... Marymount's John Kailunas III had a strong week in the backfield with eight groundballs and five caused turnovers through two games ... Ray LaPlaca shined for St. Mary's in an 0-2 week as LaPlaca tallied six points and eight ground balls in two games, posting identical stat lines in each game with season-bests in each category ... Salisbury's Nathan Blondino totaled nine points last week, including two goals and three assists in a win over York. The nine-point week moves Blondino's season tallies to 41 goals and 29 assists, for 70 points, all of which rank in the top five in the CAC ... Payton Kimber led Southern Virginia in goals last week, and ranks third on the team this year with 12 assists ... In the final game of his career, Sam Seibert notched four goals and two assists to lead Wesley to its first and only conference win of the season, an 11-9 victory over Marymount. In the fourth quarter, Seibert broke a 9-9 tie to give Wesley the lead and it held as the game-winner. Seibert finishes his career ranked fifth among Wesley's all-time points leaders ... Dillon Hannah scored five goals on just six shots in an 11-6 triumph over CNU. The victory over CNU enabled the Spartans to secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament. The five goals ties a career high that Hannah established last year in a win over St. Mary's. For the year, Hannah has 38 points on 25 goals and 13 assists. Josh Kluver had 12 ground balls and four caused turnovers to lead the Spartan defense. For the year, Kluver has accumulated 53 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers.
