YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington freshman Matt Miles was tabbed as the CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for April 5, 2016.

Mary Washington freshman Matt Miles was tabbed as the CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week aftering turning in an undefeated weekend as the 27th-ranked Eagles won two of three matches. Miles won at No. 3 singles against both No. 38 TCNJ, 6-4, 7-6, and No. 23 Swarthmore, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2. In doubles, he and Brandon Griffin won a pair of matches at the No. 1 spot with 8-6 scores against both TCNJ and Swarthmore.

Mary Washington (6-0) and Christopher Newport (3-0) remain unbeaten in CAC play, and will face off this Saturday in Fredericksburg ... The CAC Tournament begins on Saturday, April 16 with first round matches ... In the March 31 ITA National Rankings, Christopher Newport jumped nine spots to No. 20, while Mary Washington dropped six spots to No. 27 ... In the Atlantic South Regionally rankings, CNU is No. 3 and UMW is No. 9 ... In the individual regional rankings, CNU's David Reed is No. 7, Salisbury's Eric Spangler is No. 10, UMW's David Lunding Johansson is No. 15, CNU's Justin Cerny is No. 17, and UMW's Brandon Griffin is No. 19 ... In regional doubles, CNU's Steven Boslet & Chiraag Shetty are ranked No. 5, and Salisbury's Eric Spangler & Shanon Gunther are No. 6 ... Southern Virginia's Dallin Evans was the only Knight to win singles and doubles in a key 5-4 CAC win over St. Mary's.

Griffin was the top finisher for the Eagles this weekend against Division opposition at the Navy Invitational, advancing all the way to the finals of his bracket. He defeated Blaise Castleberry of Delaware, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-0, then topped Mac Rechan of Georgetown, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. He then beat Tucker Massey of Navy, 7-5, 6-3, before falling in the final to Elliott Loubataille of UMBC, 6-2, 6-3.
