YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport senior Connor Henderson and Salisbury junior Pete Grasso were selected as the CAC Baseball Players of the Week for April 11, 2016.

Christopher Newport senior Connor Henderson was named the CAC Player of the Week after blasting four home runs and driving in eight runs in a 2-1 week for the Captains. Henderson finished the week 6-for-12, good for a .500 average while slugging 1.500. He hit four home runs in a span of just seven at-bats against N.C. Wesleyan and Southern Virginia.

Salisbury junior Pete Grasso was selected as the CAC Pitcher of the Week after posting two wins and a save in a 4-1 week for the Sea Gulls. In the Sea Gulls' 4-1 win over Marymount, Grasso pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up only three hits and striking out five. He allowed only one run, which is the only run he has allowed in 15 1/3 innings of CAC action. His other win came in two scoreless innings of relief against Mary Washington, and the save came in an 8-5 win at York. For the week, he only allowed five hits in 8 2/3 innings with a 1.04 ERA.

Just one week remains in the CAC regular season, with the CAC Tournament set to begin on Tuesday, April 19 ... Frostburg State (11-4) and Salisbury (11-4) are tied atop the CAC standings, with Wesley (10-5) one game back and Marymount (9-6) in fourth place. All four teams have clinched playoff spots, while the final two spots remain up for grabs ... Three CAC teams are ranked in the D3baseball.com National Poll - Salisbury is No. 11, Christopher Newport is No. 14, and Frostburg State is No. 16, while Mary Washington is receiving votes ... In the Collegiate Baseball/ABCA rankings, Salisbury is No. 16, Christopher Newport is No. 20 and Frostburg State is receiving votes ... CNU's Michael Thomas picked up his third win of the season against N.C. Wesleyan, allowing just one hit over six shutout innings. He lowered his team-best ERA to 2.17 with the outing, striking out six and walking none ... Frostburg State senior K.J. Hockaday hit .357 with nine runs, five walks and three RBIs in a 4-0 week for the Bobcats. Sophomore Greg Schneider earned a win and a save on the mound for the Bobcats last week ... Mary Washington freshman Stephen Johnston hit .458 for the week with 11 hits in 24 at bats. He had four doubles, one home run, and 11 RBI, as the Eagles picked up wins against St. Mary's and Salisbury ... Marymount's Lorenzo Calderon totaled five RBIs in a doubleheader against Wesley on Sunday ... St. Mary's Hayden Ferington paced the Seahawks against Mary Washington with two hits and knocked in two of the Seahawks' four runs ... Tom LaBriola helped lead the Salisbury offense to a 4-1 week in conference play, leading the way with eight RBIs and eight runs scored, including two home runs ... Southern Virginia freshman Marcus Begg hit back-to-back homers vs. No. 14 CNU, recording 5 RBIs in the win on the road. Begg is fourth in the CAC with six homers and 10th in the CAC with 30 RBIs ... Wesley's KeAndre Jones batted .412 last week in a 4-0 week for the Wolverines, extending his hitting streak to 19 games. Jones delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the 11th of Sunday's doubleheader nightcap against Marymount, giving the Wolverines the sweep. Eric Willey tossed a complete-game victory for Wesley against Marymount ... York sophomore shortstop Collin Crowell hit .500 for the week including four doubles in 14 at-bats. Freshman Will Grega got a no-decision at home against Frostburg State, tossing six innings and allowing one run on two hits. The start was Grega's first career start after he made nine appearances out of the Spartan bullpen.
